The binder
Asphalt emulsion
Not refined coal tar.
It is what bonds to the mat and stays flexible through a freeze-thaw cycle instead of going brittle on it.
Super Seal 100 is asphalt-emulsion sealcoat — slurry seal, as the same tank is ordered in Washington and Montana — mixed at our yard in Rathdrum, Idaho and sold in bulk to contractors.
The binder
Not refined coal tar.
It is what bonds to the mat and stays flexible through a freeze-thaw cycle instead of going brittle on it.
The wear surface
It is what takes the traffic and puts texture back on a slick, polished lot.
The suspension
It holds the mix together in the tank so the sand does not drop out of it between the plant and the job.
